Governors

Danegrove School's governing board plays a key role in overseeing the management of the school and its long-term goals.

With a focus on strategy, policy, budgeting, and staffing, we work alongside Miss Oliver and the senior leadership team to support the school in providing an excellent education and a nurturing environment for our children.

Our governing board is made up of a diverse range of volunteers drawn from staff, parents, the local community and the local authority (Barnet). We meet regularly to address such issues as setting the school’s vision, culture and values; mitigating financial risk; and scrutinising educational outcomes. We are also involved in the Danegrove community, regularly visiting the school to meet children and staff, attending school events, supporting the PTA in fundraising and acting as critical friends to the headteacher and senior leaders.

The governing board’s role is to

  • Ensure that the strategic direction, vision and ethos of Danegrove offers the best for all our children.
  • Hold senior leaders within the school to account by providing challenge and strategic oversight on key decisions and policies.
  • Oversee financial performance and ensure that money is well spent across the school.
  • Engage with the school community of pupils, staff and parents.

In addition to meeting five times a year as a full governing board, we also operate two committees to focus on key aspects of the school. Each committee meets with the headteacher once each term.

  • Curriculum Committee (including welfare & behaviour)

Focus on attainment and progress of all pupils, including those with special educational needs; safeguarding and wellbeing; attendance; and pupil behaviour.

  •  Premises and Resources Committee

Focus on the financial aspects of the school to oversee expenditure to ensure that money is well spent, premises are well-maintained and staffing meets the needs of the school.
