Reading for Pleasure

Share-A-Story Sessions

Forget the emails, ignore the washing up, put down that device and let your imaginations be awakened as you join your children on their next adventure.

Look out for the Share-a-Story session for your child's class.

Our Reading Ethos

At Danegrove we believe that children should see reading for pleasure as a normal part of school life. This is paramount in helping our children develop a love for reading.  We believe that having access to a range of reading materials in engaging reading areas creates an environment where children want to read.

In support of this, we have created a new Reading for Pleasure library on Windsor Drive with both a London and literary Inspired theme.  Characters look down from both the Piccadilly Line train and the London bus onto cosy nooks and crannies, where curling up with a good book is encouraged. In order to help children feel relaxed and comfortable we have made the new library a shoe-free zone, thereby encouraging children to put their feet up and chill with their favourite author.  The library is well stocked with an abundance of books covering all genres and areas of interest.  It has a large range of picture books, young reader books, fiction and non-fiction books, as well as a selection of children's magazines.

The final touches to the new library are under way. Look out for our opening news flash very soon!

For our younger children we have a wonderful, well stocked library on Ridgeway Avenue where our youngest readers can get lost in amazing adventures with a 'Gruffalo' or explore new places as they go on a 'Bear Hunt'.  Where will their imaginations be taken next!
