Welcome to Year 6

Year 6 is undoubtedly an exciting milestone in our pupils’ academic journey. Entering the year of being the oldest in school, brings with it a sense of pride as well as responsibility. Apart from preparing our pupils to achieve their full potential in the SATs, we are also focused on ensuring this year gives them the best tools to prepare them for the transition from Primary to Secondary School. Change can be daunting but also offers incredible opportunities. In year 6, children will be challenged with a diverse and engaging curriculum, learning topics that develop their confidence, ambition, independence and importantly, a strong sense of self - fundamental preparation for their next chapter.
We have hit the ground running and, in a short space of time, have delved into our education: getting practical and crafting wire sculptures in the style of the ground-breaking Giacometti; exploring our inner scientists by navigating the brilliant mind of Darwin and his seminal theories of evolution; and celebrating Black History month and reclaiming narratives by becoming historians, analysing various sources and gaining insight into the fascinating Benin Empire, as well as learning to play the blues!
We can’t wait to take on the next challenge and are already looking forward to our School Journey trip in the Spring term, which will be instrumental in developing our young adventurers’ confidence and independence.
Miss Gallantine, Mr Forrest, Mr Phillips and Miss Bazzell are looking forward to an amazing year.
